A ivory-hued porcelain egret head looks back over its sinewy form. One porcelain wing stretches flat along the surface below, holding its vine body up in this partial recline. The other wing reaches forward, tip touching surface to keep in balance. A few inches down the vine, leafy porcelain tail feathers erupt outward from the opposite side. The egret's body consists of a grapevine, gnarled and knotty, with smooth deep reddish brown wood, about one quarter the length of the whole grapevine stick. It seems to be emerging from the stick itself. Beyond that smooth point is the original fibrous bark covering the vine as it snakes along the surface then forms an upward arch about ten inches high, continuing back downward settling on the flat surface behind. At the top of the arch is a woodsy brown porcelain growth, protruding upward as an arched leaf or perhaps a new unformed egret head emerging.
